What Gets Deleted
When you delete a flight:

- ✅ Associated notes
- ✅ Flight buddies connections
- ✅ Favorite status
- ✅ Attached files (Premium)
- ✅ Statistical contributions
Impact on Your Account
Statistics
Your stats will decrease:
- Total flights count
- Distance traveled
- Flight duration
- Possibly countries/airports visited
Achievements
- Previously unlocked achievements remain
- Progress toward future achievements decreases
- You won't lose achieved milestones
Map
- Route may disappear
- Airports may disappear (if it was your only flight there)
- Tracks are updated
Friends
- Flight buddies are removed from this flight
- Friends aren't notified
- Other shared flights remain
Soft Delete vs Hard Delete
SkyJourney uses soft delete:
What This Means
- Flights are marked as deleted, not erased
- Can potentially be recovered
- Database maintains data integrity
Recovery
Contact support if you need to:
- Recover recently deleted flight
- Restore accidentally removed data
- Undo bulk deletions
Flight recovery is typically possible within 30 days of deletion.
Deleting Multiple Flights
Deleting All Flights
⚠️ Use with extreme caution!
- Go to Settings → Account
- Find Delete All Flights option
- Read the warnings carefully
- Type confirmation text
- Click Delete All Flights
This will:
- Remove ALL your flights
- Reset all statistics to zero
- Clear all achievements progress
- Empty your map
- Remove all flight buddies connections
Deleting all flights cannot be easily undone. Export your data first!
Deleting Specific Groups
Currently, there's no bulk delete for selected flights.
Workarounds:
- Delete individually
- Export data, delete all, re-import desired flights
- Use filters to find unwanted flights, delete one by one
Before Deleting
Export Your Data
Before bulk deletion:
- Export your flights
- Save the CSV file
- Verify export is complete
- Keep as backup
Verify What You're Deleting
Double-check:
- Correct flight selected
- Not deleting by mistake
- Duplicate exists if removing duplicates
- No important notes will be lost
Common Deletion Scenarios
Removing Duplicates
After importing, you may have duplicates:
- Identify the duplicate flight
- Compare details between duplicates
- Delete the less complete version
- Keep the one with more information
Correcting Mistakes
Instead of deleting:
- Consider editing instead
- Editing preserves flight history
- Only delete if completely wrong
Cleaning Up Imports
After bulk import:
- Review imported flights
- Delete test flights
- Remove incorrectly parsed flights
- Keep valid entries
Future Flights That Won't Happen
If a future flight was cancelled:
- You can delete it
- Or keep it for record-keeping
- Or edit notes to mark as cancelled
Recovering Deleted Flights
Within 30 Days
- Contact SkyJourney support
- Provide flight details if possible
- Request recovery
- Support will restore from soft delete
After 30 Days
- Permanent deletion may have occurred
- Recovery unlikely
- Restore from your exported backup
Alternative to Deleting
Instead of deleting, consider:
Marking as Cancelled
- Edit the flight
- Add "CANCELLED" to notes
- Keep for your records
Correcting Instead
- Edit the flight
- Fix incorrect information
- Keep the flight history
Private Flights
- Keep the flight but don't share publicly
- Adjust public profile settings
- Flight counts toward your personal stats
After Deleting
Once a flight is deleted:
- Dashboard updates immediately
- Statistics recalculate
- Map refreshes
- Achievement progress adjusts
- Changes are saved automatically
Troubleshooting
Can't Delete Flight
Possible reasons:
- Network connection issue
- Permission problem
- Already deleted
- System error
Try:
- Refresh the page
- Check internet connection
- Try different browser
- Contact support
Deleted Wrong Flight
If you immediately realize:
- Contact support right away
- Provide flight details
- Request recovery
- Faster response = better chance
Statistics Not Updating
After deletion:
- Refresh the page
- Clear browser cache
- Wait a few minutes
- Check different stats pages
Best Practices
- Export first - Always have a backup
- Think twice - Deletion is serious
- Edit instead - When possible, correct rather than delete
- Review duplicates - Make sure they're actually duplicates
- Keep records - Historical flights have value
